Paneer Biryani

Hello dear reader, summer has finally settled in and most people don’t prefer to cook rice with a curry along with a side-dish just because it’s takes a lot of time and because it’s too hot right? Well I have the perfect solution to your problems. Paneer Biryani it is a one pot dish which is super delicious , recquires very less effort and will certainly become a family favorite.

You can serve the paneer Biryani with Khamang kakdi with a splash of curd or with a simple raita but this is totally optional.

Let’s get started with the recipe:-

Ingredients:-

  • Star anise – 1
  • Cardamom pods – 2
  • Bay leaf – 1
  • Cinnamon stick – 1 small piece
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Onion – 1
  • Tomato – 3
  • Peas – handful
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Corriander powder -1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
  • Ginger -garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Curd – 1/2 cup
  • Rice – 1 cup
  • Water – 1 1/2 cup
  • Salt – according to preference
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Corriander leaves – handful
  • Mint leaves – handful

For marination:-

  • Paneer – 250 grams
  • Curd – 1 cup
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Corriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp or according to preference
  • Oil – 1 tsp

Method:-

  • In a bowl add paneer with all the marination ingredients mentioned above and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • In a pressure cooker add oil and then add cumin seeds, star anise, cardamom pods, bay leaf, cinnamon stick and stir for a minute on medium flame.
  • Then add the onions, with ginger-garlic paste and fry till they are translucent, add the, peas tomatoes with turmeric powder, Corriander powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, salt and fry well till the oil is released.
  • Add 1/2 cup of wisked curd on low flame
  • Add the marinated paneer and stir well.
  • Add Corriander leaves and mint leaves.
  • Add rice and water.
  • Close the pressure cooker and let it cook till 1 whistle on high flame.
  • After the whistle , let the pressure cooker cool down for 15 -20 minutes.
  • After 15 – 20 minutes, open the pressure cooker and let the steam escape.
  • Serve hot.
